The other fat burning zone: breaking the 60-minute mindset
One question that I regularly get asked is, “What is the best exercise intensity to burn fat?”. The answer is not as straightforward as one may think, as the question implies that by exercising at a certain rate you get into a fat-burning zone and will lose fat. Many people believe to hit that zone a typical exercise session must last an hour. So while people program their heart rate monitors to beep when they exercise outside the supposed fat-burning zone, I wonder how many people really understand the way the body burns fat and what other so-called “zones” might exist.
